My name is Don Doherty. I am the Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator for Buffalo Trail Public Schools and the East Central Alberta Catholic Schools. I am originally from Hinton Alberta. I moved to Vermilion to join our team in March of 2011.
My role is to manage the safety systems of our schools. Between the two school divisions, I look after 36 schools, located all throughout the east central part of Alberta and our central offices in Wainwright. My duties include; ensuring our staff are properly trained in dealing with emergencies, our schools are equipped with the appropriate safety supplies, and ensuring our schools are as safe as they can be. I also provide first aid, AED training, and other safety courses for staff and students.
On my days off, I spend a lot of time volunteering with St. John Ambulance, as a member of the Medical First Responder Brigade in Lloydminster. I also am an avid photographer.
