BTPS Advocating for Public Schools and our Students
May 29, 2023 – Provincial Election
We encourage all stakeholders to reach out to your local candidates and meet directly with the people seeking to represent you in the Alberta Legislature. Share your views with the people who will be making decisions about K-12 public education, decisions that affect you and your family.
Questions you may want to ask those who are running as candidates in your riding:
- How will you continue to support and ensure that Public Schools remain a priority in receiving funding over charter schools?
- While all Alberta schools are publicly funded, all Alberta schools are NOT public schools. Appropriate funding and the responsible allocation of resources is needed to ensure an excellent and equitable education for all Alberta students. Government funding has increased for charter schools in Alberta.
- How will you ensure that public schools receive the required funding for new schools, modernizations, and ongoing maintenance of our facilities so that our students can continue maximizing student learning in a safe and caring environment?
- What new or continued supports will you ensure are available for the staff and students to support their mental and physical health?
- How will you ensure that equitable and sustainable transportation funding for our division occurs?
- How will you address ongoing community and societal needs and challenges that directly impact our students?
- What will you contribute to our rural education to ensure it continues to be sustainable?
Below you will find some links that may assist you in directing your questions as well, and furthering your understanding of Alberta rural education, and more specifically Buffalo Trail Public Schools.
