Who we are

Vermilion Outreach School

An Alternative High School

Our Goal

To help students succeed in a safe, caring, community environment

Our School Philosophy

Our philosophy is "helping students succeed" by creating a postive school environment where students feel hopeful, feel they belong to a school community, and are involved in making decisions that affect them. The atmosphere is safe, caring, and adult like with a strong work ethic.

Who is it for?

Students who:

  • are not presently attending school
  • have not experienced success in a traditional school setting
  • are several courses short of their high school diploma
  • need to upgrade their marks to qualify for post-secondary entry
  • want to redo the classroom portion of a diploma exam course
  • have a time table conflict at their present school and need a specific course
  • are raising or expecting a child and need a flexible program
  • are between 15 and 19 (as of September 1st) years of age
  • enjoy working independently and are mature enough to do so

At the Vermilion Outreach School we have a variety of students programs

  • Off campus programs including cosmetology, carpentry, welding, and mechanics. These programs utilize community resources and caring adults.
  •  Extensive work experience sites for our students
  • Asset building once a week
  • Art program
  • Breakfast program each day
  • K and E program utilizing excellent curriculum from ADLC via Students on Line.
  • Physical Education program (since we have no gym we utilize off campus recreational facilities)
  • Advanced career counseling
  • Personal counselling and guidance
  • Differentiated instruction and Cooperative learning. We have had a lot of success in using different delivery strategies to enhance student learning.
