Buffalo Trail Public Schools Regional Division No. 28 is located in the province of Alberta, Canada.

Our Vision

Buffalo Trail Public Schools will be the division of choice for students, parents and staff.

Our Misson

In partnership with the community, highly effective Buffalo Trail Public Schools’ staff will provide optimum learning in a safe, caring and supportive learning environment.

Our Priorities 

The board believes in the following priorities

 

  1. Focus on improving student achievement through an emphasis on literacy and numeracy skills;
  2. Ensuring students at all grade levels are provided with educational experiences that engage them in lifelong learning skills and allow them to work toward a choice of a career and/or post secondary pathway;
  3. Ensuring “at-risk” students are provided with appropriate programs and supports; and,
  4. Providing all students and staff with a safe, collaborative, healthy and innovative learning environment that values individual contributions and supports opportunities for growth.
 

In addressing these priorities the following are areas of focus:

 

  • Creating a culture of assessment. (Priorities 1and 3)
  • Enhancing videoconferencing capacity in delivery of programs to ensures students have the broadest range of opportunities for course offerings. (Priority 2)
  • Strong support for all schools and students in the division through professional development for staff directed at addressing the learning needs of Buffalo Trail Public Schools’ staff and students. (Priorities 1 and 3)
  • Creating a capacity for leadership across the division.
  • Building measures of student success that will include classroom based assessments, satisfaction levels, standardized tests, scholarships and completion rates as outlined in the division’s Annual Education Results Report (AERR). (Priorities 1 and 3)
  • Improvement of student learning and performance through the setting of quality learning standards by creating a culture of assessment throughout the division. (Priority 1)
  • Building Off-Campus programs that provide experience-based opportunities for students to explore varied career pathways that will serve them in their decisions about their educational and occupational future. (Priority 2)
  • Developing partnerships with post-secondary institutions which provide opportunities for students to engage in programs not currently offered in some of our sites. (Priority 2)
  • Building upon our Anti-Bullying Projects within the division to continue to identify and address behaviors that negatively impact student growth as good citizens. (Priority 4)
  • Building upon the Moral Intelligence programs being utilized in some of our sites. (Priority 4)

We pride ourselves in our dedication to and focus on the varied communities of learners that are part of the educational experience in our schools.

 

We also take pride in the division’s desire to fully utilize local schools, as much as we are able, to provide inclusive settings where the needs of all students are addressed.
